Workers Compensation will pay a percentage of an employee’s wage should they injure themselves at work, and this is usually sufficient for a full time employee. A Director is likely to be paid a yearly fee for their activities on behalf of an Organisation and may be a business owner themselves or hold a high end position with another organisation.
If they were to injure themselves whilst performing their duties for your organisation a Workers Compensation payment through your Organisation is unlikely to cover their out of pocket expenses and lost income should they not able to continue working within their own company or other positions. It is not unusual for a Director to seek compensation from the Organisation to cover these costs in the event they are injured whilst performing your Organisation activities.
The Directors Group Accident Policy provides the company with a weekly payment ($1500 – more if requested) for up to 104 weeks for this scenario. The policy also offers capital benefits in the form of a one off compensation payment for a permanent injury.
In addition, Directors Group Accident EO cover makes perfect risk management sense. Should the EO (or any other nominated persons), be injured for any reason (24hr/7day), the Organisation is able to fund a part time or short term replacement to help cope with the loss of a key person. This cover reduces the financial and resource drain experienced by a company having to deal with the unexpected.
